Exercising your immune: exercise away cholesterol

EXERCISING YOUR IMMUNE: EXERCISE AWAY CHOLESTEROL
Exercise also helps to lower your cholesterol level, thus reducing your risk of suffering heart disease. The cholesterol and fat-laden Standard American Diet encourages the formation of plugs in your arteries. It doesn't take much to completely block the tiny arteries that bring fresh blood to your heart. That's why it's important to keep your cholesterol level low.
Regular exercise can lower your total cholesterol level, especially when it is combined with the Super Food diet. As the cholesterol level falls, so does your risk of having a heart attack. For every one-percent drop in your blood cholesterol, you'll enjoy a two-percent drop in your risk of developing coronary artery disease.
While lowering total cholesterol, exercise increases the levels of HDL (good) cholesterol. The risk of having a heart attack is inversely related to HDL: the higher your HDL, the lower the risk of heart disease. (I like my patients to have HDLs of 50 or more.)
In addition, vigorous exercise lowers the LDL (bad) cholesterol. I've seen this happen frequently to my patients. LDL has been described as the "delivery truck" that brings cholesterol to the arteries, where it accumulates and narrows those vital passageways. You want to keep your LDL low, and exercise will help you do that.
